Today, Indigenous hip-hop artist Drezus releases visuals for his powerful new single “Bless”.  With the audio already racking up streams across DSP’s - Drezus had the release of the video planned for weeks. With today’s incredibly heavy and unconscionable revelations of 761 further mass/unmarked graves being found on the grounds of another “Residential School” - this time mere Kilometres from where he himself went to “Residential School” at Lebret - Drezus spoke to family and friends about the timing of this video and whether to proceed. The answer was that Drezus’ music is powerful medicine and a rallying cry for Indigenous people and all good people of conscience. The following press release is the original press release that was set to go out;

Drezus enlists Superville from Toronto to provide the backdrop with menacing piano keys and relentless drums. On this record Drezus emphasizes the gift of standing in your power and embracing spirituality while shedding light on the issues facing his community. Coming from a residential school survivor family, Drezus knows the importance of preserving his culture and identity. “Bless” is a reclamation of that and his spirituality. It’s also a big “f*** you” to the residential school atrocity and all of it’s accomplices.

When speaking on the inspiration behind this record Drezus tells us: “Bless is about asking for strength and protection as I grow into the man I need to be for my family. It’s about having the strength to leave behind the bad energy and trauma for a meaningful and rewarding life.” Drezus
